The Russian Veterinary Supervisory Authority announced the confirmation of the first infection with the Corona virus in a cat in the country.

 The deputy head of the commission, Nikolai Vlasov, said today, Wednesday, according to the Russian "TASS" news agency: "The cat was placed under quarantine at the owner's residence, after confirming that it was infected with the virus."

 He added: "The Veterinary Supervisory Authority does not see the necessity to take measures towards animals after the detection of a cat infection with Corona virus," noting that the virus is transmitted between humans and there is no evidence that the virus can be transmitted from animals to humans.  The Russian official explained that there is no information on the possibility of the virus developing in cats.
